Keeping An Eye On A Property That Seems To Be For Sale Often: Things Worth Asking The Real Estate Agent

There are homes on the market now that have been on the market much more often than most other homes. It seems to be an unusual and almost beneficial sort of issue for home buyers, especially those liking one of these homes in particular. However, if you see that the same home is bought and sold several times in five years, you might want to ask a real estate agent the following questions before adding this home to your list of possibilities.

Ask About the Previous Owners

There may be a good reason why this house has been placed on the market more than three times in five years. It may have something to do with the previous owners. They may have been military personnel who were there only temporarily, or they may have been trying to fix up the property with hopes of making a profit. Asking about the previous owners is a perfectly acceptable thing to do, and the real estate agent is the best person to ask.

Ask About Known Difficulties with the House

Maybe the issue is not the owners, but something with the house. Maybe it floods every spring, or maybe it has old pipes that need replacing and it would have been too costly for previous owners. Maybe the location did not agree with everyone that lived there. Some corner houses are like that, especially if they are on a busy street. You have to look at this house from all angles and find out what its main issues, both structural and mechanical, are. If the issues are pretty major, it may be why the house frequently goes up for sale.

Ask If People Claim the House Is Haunted

Sure, it sounds like a funny question to you, but people will abandon a house they believe is haunted. Weirder things have happened and, sometimes, experiences people cannot explain lead them to do strange things, like throw everything they can in a car and leave the house. If and when such things occur, they almost always opt to sell the house as soon as they can. The house is usually bought up by someone new almost immediately, or it is left abandoned for years. If it is bought immediately, the process starts anew. Even if you do not believe in the supernatural, it helps to understand that previous owners did, and it may be the cause of their rapid departure and resale of the home.
